During the launch ceremony, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti affirmed that the project represents a qualitative leap in the University's technical development journey, aiming to present an integrated picture of its academic and research capabilities, services, and achievements through new websites characterized by ease of use, swift access to information, quality design, security, and reliability.
He pointed out that the true significance of the project lies in how these websites are utilized, activated, and continually enriched with content. The Rector stressed the need for faculty deans and center directors to play an active role in updating their institutions' data, publishing activities, research, and scientific achievements, and highlighting educational, research, and service capacities to reflect the scale and stature of Sana'a University.
The Rector highlighted the University's substantial academic and human capital, comprising more than 56,000 male and female students and thousands of academic and administrative staff. He noted the expansion witnessed by postgraduate programs, which grew from 15 master's and doctoral programs in 2015 to 240 programs in 2026.
He explained that the University has achieved progress in several international and regional academic rankings in recent years, driven by the growth of peer-reviewed scientific publishing and improvements in institutional and digital performance. He emphasized that developing websites and integrating portals across faculties and research centers serve as vital factors in enhancing the University's presence in global ranking indicators and showcasing its scientific accomplishments.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti reviewed the development phases of the University's websites since 2000, passing through updates in 2006 and 2009, up to the development phase initiated in Ramadan 2026 by an engineering team from the University's Digital Transformation Center. He touched upon previous challenges faced by the sites, including cyberattacks, and the importance of migrating web hosting to a more secure and stable environment through a partnership with the national company "Suhobcom."
For his part, the CEO of Suhobcom, Eng. Mishaal Thabit, praised the cooperation with Sana'a University in upgrading its websites and electronic platforms. He affirmed that the cloud hosting partnership contributes to supporting the University's digital transformation path and enhancing system reliability and cyber presence, noting that the main website, following its development, now reflects the University's identity and standing with greater clarity.
In turn, the Project Manager, Eng. Ghada Al-Asadi, reviewed the preparation and implementation phases of the website and media platform upgrade project. She explained that it was based on an analysis of the current status, identifying strengths and shortcomings, and devising appropriate solutions to unify digital identity and electronic work standards while maintaining the distinct identity of each faculty and center, improving user experience, and facilitating access to information and services.
