Sana’a – Sana’a University Media Office
Two scholars from Sana’a University have been included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list in the October 2026 update, compiled in collaboration with the Scopus database and hosted in the data repository of the international academic publisher Elsevier. The scholars are Dr. Tareq Al-Shami, a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Education – Sana’a, and Dr. Ali Abdullah Al-Muntaser, a faculty member at the Faculty of Education and Applied Sciences – Arhab.
According to the published data, Dr. Tareq Al-Shami appears on both the career-long scientific impact and annual scientific impact lists in the field of general mathematics, reflecting the international citation impact of his research. He ranked first in Yemen for the fourth consecutive year in the career-long scientific impact list and 25,625th worldwide in the annual scientific impact list.
Dr. Ali Al-Muntaser was also listed among researchers affiliated with Sana’a University in the field of applied physics, extending his presence in international scientific impact rankings. He ranked 41,276th worldwide in the career-long scientific impact list and 38,915th worldwide in the annual scientific impact list.
The inclusion of these researchers highlights the scholarly contributions of Sana’a University academics through scientific publication and research citations, helping expand the international visibility of both the University and Yemeni researchers in academic circles worldwide.
The 2026 update is based on Scopus data through the end of 2025 and presents separate indicators for cumulative career-long scientific impact and impact over a single year. Its methodology incorporates scientific citations and other indicators related to authorship and research impact.
