Sana’a University today honored the late Prof. Saleh Ali Omar Bassorah, the former University Rector, in recognition of his academic and administrative contributions to the University’s development. The ceremony took place during a University Council meeting, with Vice-Rectors and Rector’s Assistants, faculty deans, and Council members in attendance.

The event included the recitation of Al-Fatiha for the soul of the late Prof. Saleh Bassorah, as a gesture of remembrance and appreciation for his contributions to the University and the advancement of higher education.

In his remarks, Sana’a University Rector Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti stated that the honoring forms part of an initiative that the University will continue to hold on a monthly basis to recognize distinguished figures who have contributed to its academic and administrative development. He noted that Prof. Saleh Bassorah deserved this recognition for his contributions to the development of Sana’a University during his tenure as Rector.

Prof. Al-Bukhaiti added that honoring the University’s distinguished figures reflects its commitment to honoring those who contributed to its advancement and preserving the legacy of its pioneers by recognizing their academic and administrative contributions.

In turn, Major General Luqman Baras, Governor of Hadramout Governorate, expressed his appreciation to the leadership of Sana’a University for this gesture toward Prof. Saleh Bassorah. He noted that honoring one of the University’s distinguished figures reflects its recognition of his contributions and its appreciation for those who served the University and contributed to its development.

At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti presented the University Shield and a Certificate of Appreciation to Major General Luqman Baras, Governor of Hadramout Governorate, for delivery to the family of the late Prof. Saleh Bassorah, in recognition of his contributions to the University during his tenure as Rector.

The honoring ceremony commemorated Prof. Saleh Bassorah’s academic and administrative career, which extended from academia and scientific research to university leadership. He served as Rector of both Aden University and Sana’a University before becoming Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. During his tenure at Sana’a University, he focused on academic administration, the development of regulations, the organization of university operations and scientific research, and matters related to faculty members and students..
