An expanded meeting was held this morning at Kuwait University Hospital, chaired by Sana’a University Rector Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, with the participation of Dr. Abdul Hafidh Thawabah, Rector's Assistant for Medical Faculties and Hospitals; Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; Prof. Abdul Latif Abu Talib, Director General of Kuwait University Hospital; and heads of medical and scientific departments and directors of Medical Doctorate (M.D.) graduate programs.
The meeting discussed plans to enhance clinical training and academic development for graduate students and strengthen integration between the Faculty of Medicine and the hospital.
The meeting began with the recitation of Al-Fatihah and prayers for the soul of the late Prof. Ahmed Al-Haddad, Professor of Community Medicine and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Then, the Rector stressed the importance of maintaining coordination and integration between the Faculty of Medicine and the Hospital to enhance the quality of clinical training and academic education for graduate students in line with the requirements of medical specialties and in a manner that contributes to improving professional performance.
The meeting discussed requirements for expanding the training capacity of specialized and subspecialized departments, providing the necessary equipment to develop specialized units and centers at the hospital, organizing and distributing students’ clinical and field training responsibilities, and strengthening coordination among the hospital administration, the Faculty, and heads of graduate programs.
The meeting also addressed procedures for approving the academic job descriptions and responsibilities of program directors and heads, reviewing the related financial aspects in accordance with approved regulations, discussing standards and regulations governing scientific publication, facilitating procedures for the defense of academic theses, and supporting the research journals affiliated with the University and the Faculty.
Participants also stressed the importance of activating mechanisms for the continuous evaluation of students and staff supervising training programs, as well as strengthening discipline and adherence to academic and training duties and responsibilities in ways that contribute to improving the quality of the educational and clinical environment.
The meeting concluded with a number of outcomes, most notably completing the organizational and administrative procedures related to graduate programs, activating follow-up and coordination mechanisms between the Faculty and the Hospital, and working to address the challenges students face during their clinical training, thereby strengthening the role of Kuwait University Hospital as a training center for graduate students.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a committee was formed to follow up on the implementation of the meeting outcomes and recommendations, and a date was set for the next meeting to review progress and the measures taken regarding
