The Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council of Sana'a University approved the registration of 55 new research titles and endorsed the defense and evaluation results of 55 MA theses and PhD dissertations. The Council also approved a mechanism for awarding master's and doctoral degrees to students who passed away after completing the writing of their theses or dissertations but didn't complete the procedures of defending their theses.
The decisions were adopted during the Council's third regular meeting for the 1448 AH / 2026 academic year, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Hamoud Abdullah Al-Ahnoumi, Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The meeting addressed a number of issues related to the development of graduate studies and scientific research and the enhancement of the quality of academic programs and outcomes.
The Council also discussed the study plan for the MA Program in Anesthesia at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, approved a diploma program for non-specialists at the Faculty of Science, and approved the reopening of the specialized academic program in the Department of Arabic Language at the Faculty of Education. A number of other matters were referred to the relevant committees for further review and the submission of the necessary recommendations.
The Council reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Faculty of Commerce and Economics concerning the standardization of tuition fees across all PhD. programs. It also addressed matters related to facilitating student enrollment procedures in graduate programs and adopted the appropriate decisions in this regard. In addition, the Council discussed extending the scholarship periods of a number of university-sponsored students in accordance with the applicable regulations and bylaws.
Regarding research registration, the Council approved 55 new research titles, including 22 PhD dissertation titles and 33 MA thesis titles, across a range of scientific, applied, and humanities disciplines. It also approved three requests to modify research titles.
The Council further endorsed the defense and evaluation results of 55 researchers, comprising 28 PhD dissertations and 27 MA theses, in accordance with the approved academic regulations and standards.
The Council also approved the results of several academic programs, including academic level upgrading programs, PG diploma programs, and MA coursework programs. It approved internal scholarships for teaching assistants and assistant lecturers to pursue their graduate studies, in addition to endorsing joint cooperation scholarships between Sana'a University and public universities.
Concluding the meeting, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to the continued advancement of the University's graduate studies and scientific research system to enhance the quality of academic outcomes, improve research performance, and further strengthen Sana'a University's role in serving society and contributing to scientific and knowledge-based development.
