In implementation of the directives of Sana’a University Rector Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector's Assistant for Centers Affairs Prof. Zaid Ali Al-Warith conducted an inspection visit to the Central Laboratories Center for Scientific Research and Community Service at Sana’a University to assess the Center’s technical and organizational readiness and prepare trainees to participate in its first training course on specialized chemical analysis equipment, recently installed with support from a Japanese government grant through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The visit aimed to review preparations for launching the training program, highlight the importance of the advanced analytical equipment in developing the capabilities of researchers and academic and technical staff, and promote the effective use of the Center’s research facilities. These efforts are intended to enhance the quality of scientific and analytical services provided to the University and the wider community.
During the meeting, Prof. Al-Warith welcomed the trainees, Center staff, and representatives of the relevant faculties, conveying the Rector’s greetings and his commitment to activating the Center’s role and enabling it to fulfill its research and community-service mission. He emphasized that installing the advanced equipment, bringing it into operation, and training personnel in its use form part of the University leadership’s efforts to strengthen its scientific and research infrastructure and expand researchers’ access to modern chemical-analysis technologies.
He stressed the importance of making effective use of the training course to build trainees’ capabilities and qualify them to operate the equipment in accordance with established scientific and technical standards. This, he noted, will ensure optimal utilization of the equipment, strengthen the Center’s role in supporting researchers from various disciplines both within and outside the University, and contribute to meeting community needs.
Then, Dr. Mansour Abdul Halim Al-Dhubhani, Director of the Center, reviewed the Center’s establishment and its importance in supporting scientific research and providing analytical services. He stressed the need for trainees to demonstrate seriousness and discipline and to make the most of the training program, describing them as a key component in activating the Center’s capabilities and fulfilling the University’s aspirations to improve its performance and advance its services toward higher levels of quality and accreditation locally, regionally, and internationally.
Dr. Fatima Murshid, Deputy Director of the Center, outlined the training tracks and objectives, emphasizing the importance of complying with the regulations and standards governing work in research and analytical laboratories, as well as adhering to safety procedures and proper equipment operation to ensure the achievement of the course’s scientific and practical objectives.
The first training course is being organized following the completion of the installation of the advanced chemical-analysis equipment obtained by Sana’a University through a grant from the Japanese government. The equipment had remained in the University’s warehouses for more than 13 years before being brought into operation, marking a new stage of research and training utilization. This step reflects the University leadership’s efforts to reactivate available scientific resources and deploy them in support of scientific research and community service.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed Rawah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment; Mr. Mansour Sa‘ater, Center Secretary; along with the trainees and representatives of the relevant faculties, including the Faculties of Agriculture, Food and Environment; Science; Petroleum and Natural Resources; Engineering; and Pharmacy..
