The Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at Sana'a University discussed today, Monday, the Master's thesis proposal (Seminar 1) submitted by researcher Bara'ah Yahya Ahmed Hashem, titled: "Evaluation of Microbial and Chemical Safety of Selected Local and Imported Raisin Varieties Distributed in the Capital Secretariat-, Sana'a."
The proposal was discussed under the supervision of Prof. Abdulmajeed Bajash, Main Supervisor, and Prof. Abduljaleel Dirhem, Co-Supervisor.
The defense and examination committee comprised:

- Prof. Jalal Fadhl
- Prof. Hassan Abduljabbar Al-Dubai
- Prof. Qais Abdullah
- Prof. Amer Ali Mahdi.
During the session, the researcher presented her scientific thesis proposal, addressing the study's problem statement, objectives, significance, and proposed methodology for sample collection and laboratory testing, alongside previous studies and the underlying theoretical framework.
The study aims to evaluate microbial and chemical safety indicators for several local and imported raisin varieties available in the markets of the Capital Secretariat, Sana'a. This is conducted through a series of laboratory tests and analyses to detect key contaminants and health-relevant indicators, thereby contributing to the provision of scientific data on the safety of this food product and enhancing knowledge regarding its quality level and safety for consumption.
The session featured a scientific discussion of the research proposal, enriched by constructive academic input and feedback covering the topic, objectives, and methodology. These contributions aim to refine the proposal, enhance its scientific rigour, and guide the researcher in conducting the study in accordance with approved scientific research principles and standards.
The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members and graduate students from the faculty.
