The Faculty of Sharia and Law at Sana’a University organized an intellectual seminar on Sunday entitled “Al-Aqsa Flood and October 14: Integration of Regional and Global Arenas in Confronting the Zionist Narrative—An Analysis of the Dimensions of the Flood.” The seminar brought together academics, researchers, and students to discuss the political and media dimensions of the Palestinian cause, shifts in international public opinion, and their connections with national liberation movements.
The seminar was attended by Sana’a University Rector Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Ibrahim Al-Mutaa. In his remarks, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law Prof. Mohammed Nijad emphasized the importance of examining developments in the Palestinian cause in light of the third anniversary of the events of October 7, 2023, and the 63rd anniversary of the October 14 Revolution, as well as analyzing their regional and international implications.
Prof. Nijad noted that developments in the region in recent years had broadened international discussions on the Palestinian cause and drawn increasing attention to the positions of international institutions, media coverage, and public opinion trends. He stressed the importance of examining these transformations through academic research and analysis.
The seminar featured three research papers addressing developments in regional positions, changes in media discourse and public opinion in Western societies, and the political and strategic outlook for the regional landscape.
In the first paper, entitled “The Integration of Fronts and the Failure of Fragmentation: Regional Unity on the Ground and the Collapse of Reliance on Sectarian Discord,” Palestinian researcher Dr. Mohammed Al-Buhaisi presented his assessment of evolving regional positions on the Palestinian cause. He commended Yemen’s supportive stance toward the Palestinians and discussed the dimensions and political and strategic implications of Yemen’s involvement, as well as the place of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque in Arab and Islamic consciousness.
In the second paper, entitled “Breaking Through on the Global Stage: The Erosion of the Zionist Narrative and Shifts in Public Opinion in Western Societies,” Dr. Abduh Subai’, Vice Dean for Student Affairs at the Faculty of Education at Sana’a University, examined changes in media and international discourse on the Palestinian cause, the impact of recent events on public opinion, and student and popular activism in several Western societies. He also discussed the performance of international institutions in addressing humanitarian issues.
The third paper, presented by Dr. Abdulaziz Abu Talib, Executive Director of the Center for Political and Strategic Studies, was entitled “The US-Zionist Project Between Expansion on the Ground and Strategic Decline: Implications and Prospects.” It examined political and strategic transformations in the region and their potential implications for the future of regional and international relations and balances of power.
The seminar concluded with contributions and discussions among participants on the implications of current developments for the Palestinian cause, shifts in international positions, and the importance of studying political and media events through a research-based approach to better understand their dimensions and consequences.
The seminar was part of the intellectual and academic activities organized by the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Sana’a University to enrich academic debate on regional and international issues and strengthen the participation of academics, researchers, and students in analyzing contemporary political and media transformations..
