Fourth-year students in the Department of Horticulture and Its Techniques at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment - Sana'a University conducted a practical application session as part of the "Fruit Tree and Perennial Breeding" course. The session aimed to enhance their scientific knowledge and develop their applied skills in examining flowers and identifying the tools used in plant breeding and genetic improvement programs.
The practical session focused on the morphological and anatomical examination of the components and parts of diverse flower samples using stereomicroscopes (binocular microscopes). This enabled students to observe structural variations among samples, thoroughly inspect their parts, and document their distinguishing characteristics according to established scientific standards.
Additionally, the session introduced the tools and equipment used in plant breeding, explaining their functions and practical applications in genetic improvement programs, as well as their role in supporting scientific procedures related to studying plant traits and crop development.
The activity was conducted under the supervision of Eng. Taiseer Al-Sanahani, as part of the department's commitment to reinforcing the practical dimension of the educational process and bridging theoretical knowledge with scientific practice—thereby advancing student skills and preparing them for work in specialized agricultural and research fields.
This activity falls within the ongoing efforts of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at Sana'a University to enhance practical learning methods, elevate the efficiency of its academic outcomes, and train agricultural professionals equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills to contribute to agricultural production and scientific research.
