Coinciding with the start of the schedule for the second half of the academic year, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana'a University launched classes for the second semester. Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, the Faculty Dean, accompanied by Prof. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, conducted a comprehensive inspection tour across the faculty’s lecture halls and laboratories to assess the progression of the educational process and student attendance levels across various academic years and departments.
During the tour, the Dean and the Vice Dean for Student Affairs listened to feedback and views from male and female students regarding the conduct of the educational process during the first semester. They reviewed the key administrative and academic challenges and obstacles students encountered, reflecting the faculty leadership's commitment to continuous evaluation and resolving any deficiencies that might impact the quality of educational outcomes.
Speaking during the visit, the Dean noted that the faculty shines today with students who understand they are on the threshold of a noble profession. He emphasized that every academic day completed brings them a step closer to their professional independence, urging students to approach their studies with dedication, make full use of lectures and laboratories, and honor the trust placed in them by their community as the doctors of tomorrow who will one day be entrusted with human lives.
Prof. Al-Shehari stressed that the relationship between students and the faculty leadership is an inseparable partnership based on mutual responsibility and commitment. He encouraged students to take initiative, interact actively within lecture halls and labs, and participate in academic and professional activities, thereby cementing their presence and strengthening their professional identity moving forward.
The Dean expressed his expectation for students to achieve qualitative milestones in academic performance and clinical skills during this semester. He affirmed that the deanery will continue to support them, remove barriers to excellence, and maintain direct contact as an open forum to listen to their needs, underscoring that the student is the core and ultimate goal of the educational process.
Prof. Al-Shhari noted that the start of the second semester is proceeding with remarkable discipline and engagement. Welcoming students back to their classrooms, he emphasized the faculty deanery's commitment—in full coordination with the Presidency of Sana'a University—to addressing all issues and overcoming challenges facing male and female students to ensure an exemplary and motivating academic environment for high-level scholarly attainment.
At the conclusion of the inspection visit, the faculty leadership directed student class representatives to schedule expanded meetings during the week. These meetings will bring together faculty leadership and students from various levels and departments to thoroughly examine any emerging problems or difficulties and work immediately on implementing effective solutions, ensuring a smooth and highly disciplined second semester.
This field initiative reflects the dedication of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana'a University to reinforcing transparency and direct communication with its students, as well as its commitment to delivering advanced medical education grounded in the latest academic and pedagogical standards—safeguarding the faculty's leadership and graduating highly competent and professionally prepared healthcare personnel.
