SANA’A, YEMEN — The Department of Horticulture and its Techniques at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment, Sana’a University, hosted a seminar today to review the Master’s thesis proposal submitted by graduate researcher Wafa Nasser Abo Nasran.
The proposed study is titled:
“Evaluation of the Efficacy and Concentrations of Natural Plant Extracts on Rooting Bougainvillea Cuttings.”
The thesis is being conducted under the primary supervision of Dr. Adel Sultan Al-Hejami. The academic review committee comprised:
• Dr. Hassan Al-Dobai
• Dr. Essam Al-Madhaji
• Dr. Mohammed Raweh
• Dr. Dhafer Mosleh Yahya Howaida
During the defense session, Abo Nasran presented a comprehensive overview of her research plan, detailing the core problem statement, research significance, underlying objectives, and the physiological mechanisms governing the rooting process. She highlighted the importance of vegetative propagation in Bougainvillea, alongside a critical review of relevant literature, underlying hypotheses, and the proposed experimental methodology.
The proposed research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of various natural plant extracts and concentrations on rooting success in Bougainvillea cuttings. The study will assess their impact on key physiological and morphological growth indicators, determine optimal concentration levels, and monitor root development patterns and seedling survival rates.
Following the presentation, members of the review panel provided constructive feedback, methodological insights, and recommendations aimed at strengthening the study's experimental design and maximizing its practical applications.
This study aligns with the department's ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable agricultural research, specifically exploring eco-friendly plant extracts to enhance plant propagation techniques.
The defense session was attended by department faculty members, graduate students, and researchers in horticulture and plant production.
