Sana’a University has recorded another significant achievement in international research rankings, maintaining its leading position among Yemeni universities and recording further advancement in the 2027 AD Scientific Index. The University climbed 105 places globally, rising from 2,256th in the July 2026 ranking to 2,151st in the live update of the same ranking for October 2026 (2027 edition), among 19,674 universities included in the index.
At the Asian level, Sana’a University advanced 52 places, climbing from 808th to 756th place among 10,770 universities, maintaining its leading position among the 38 Yemeni universities included in the ranking.
This advancement builds on the University’s remarkable progress in the July 2026 edition, when it jumped 560 places worldwide, rising from 2,816th in the 2025 ranking to 2,256th. During the same period, it also advanced 232 places in Asia, moving from 1,040th to 808th. These successive improvements reflect the University’s continued progress in research performance and scientific impact.
Marking the achievement, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, extended his congratulations to the University’s researchers, academics, students, administrative staff, and the entire university community. He praised their dedication and contributions to strengthening the University's academic and research standing, describing the achievement as the outcome of collective efforts and a sustained commitment to institutional, academic, and research excellence.
The University Rector reaffirmed the University leadership’s commitment to fostering scientific research and supporting academic researchers by creating an environment that encourages creativity and innovation. He highlighted the introduction of financial incentives for scientific publications as part of efforts to promote research in peer-reviewed journals, enhance the quality of scholarly output, and increase its visibility and impact within the international academic community.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti emphasized that the University's ambitions extend beyond increasing research productivity and securing higher positions in international rankings. He explained that a central priority is to direct scientific research toward addressing social challenges and meeting development needs by translating research findings into practical applications and commercially viable products.
He noted that several university research outcomes have already progressed beyond the academic sphere into industrial applications, with some reaching actual production and gaining a foothold in the local market. Such achievements, he said, demonstrate the vital role of university research in strengthening national production, supporting domestic industries, and delivering practical solutions to community needs.
The AD Scientific Index is an international ranking system specializing in the assessment of research performance among scientists and academic institutions. Drawing on Google Scholar data, it evaluates research productivity and scientific influence through indicators such as the H-index, i10-index, and academic citation counts.
Sana’a University continues to prioritize the development of its research infrastructure, support for researchers and innovators, and stronger partnerships with productive sectors.
