Sana'a University honored Dr. Tariq Mohammed Al-Shami, a faculty member at the College of Education in Sana'a, today in recognition of his academic and scientific career and his contributions to the university and Yemen. This honor was part of the university's monthly program to celebrate its distinguished academic and scientific figures.
The ceremony took place during an official event hosted by the university council, attended by the university's vice presidents, their assistants, and deans of faculties. Dr. Al-Shami was selected as the "Personality of Issue 55" in Sana'a University's monthly newspaper, which specializes in covering university news and achievements.
This program reflects Sana'a University's commitment to fostering a culture of loyalty and appreciation for its scholars and academics, highlighting individuals who have contributed to its scientific and research journey, and celebrating academic achievements within the university.
During the event, the President of Sana'a University, Professor Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bakhiti, affirmed that the university is committed to honoring its scholars and academic figures who have played a prominent role in its academic journey, stemming from its belief that recognizing those who have contributed is a fundamental value that must be instilled within the university.
He noted that Dr. Tariq Al-Shami is one of the leading academic figures who has contributed to the service of the Faculty of Education, Sana'a University, and Yemen through his scientific and research contributions and his publications in internationally ranked journals.

Dr. Tariq Al-Shami's research career is highlighted by his publication of 180 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and Clarivate databases, in addition to his role as a reviewer for more than 500 research papers for 68 international journals.
Dr. Al-Shami also serves on the editorial boards of several international journals ranked in the top quartile (Q1), including the Journal of Mathematics and Heliyon, as well as his scientific participation in more than 17 international conferences and specialized workshops.
This research presence culminated in Dr. Tariq Al-Shami's inclusion in Stanford University's list of the top 2% of most cited and influential researchers worldwide. He also topped the list of researchers at Sana'a University according to the AD Scientific Index for the years 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Throughout his academic career, he has received numerous awards and honors, most notably the Professor Dr. Abdel-Shafi Abada Award for Young Researchers in 2019, the First International Student Forum Award in Egyptian Universities in 2019, the Mansoura University President's Award for International Students in 2016, the President of the Republic's Award for Top University Graduates in 2011, and the Sana'a University President's Award for Scientific Excellence in 2009.
The university president explained that the monthly program is not limited to honoring academic figures, but also aims to introduce new generations of faculty members and students to the biographies of scientists and researchers who have left their mark on the university's history, and to foster a culture of pride in scientific and research achievements.
For his part, Professor Dr. Tariq Al-Shami expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Sana'a University for this honor, emphasizing that this gesture represents a badge of appreciation he cherishes and an incentive to continue his work and contributions. He noted that honoring scholars and academics reflects the university's loyalty to its members and encourages continued excellence and service to science and the nation.
At the conclusion of the event, the President of Sana'a University presented Professor Dr. Tariq Al-Shami with the university's commemorative shield in recognition of his scientific and academic career and his contributions and achievements, wishing him continued health, success, and further accomplishments in serving science, the university, and the nation.
