*Sana’a University Council Approves 84 New Faculty Positions* Sana’a – University Media Center Monday, August 31, 2026 (18 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1448 AH) The Sana’a University Council, chaired by the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, approved 84 new academic positions for faculty members who had competed for positions previously announced through the official press. The positions cover several faculties, including the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Pharmacy. The Council also approved the appointment, status regularization, and promotion of 22 faculty members across a number of the university’s faculties. The decisions were made during the Council’s third regular meeting for the 1448 AH academic year, held today at the university headquarters in Sana’a, in the presence of the Vice-Rectors, assistants, and faculty deans. The Council approved the implementation, with regard to Sana’a University, of the recommendations adopted at the first regular meeting of the Minister of Education and Scientific Research with the rectors of public universities for the 1448 AH academic year. One of the key recommendations provides for a 50% reduction in the total outstanding tuition fees for students who graduated five or more academic years ago and have applied to obtain their academic documents. Eligible graduates must apply to benefit from the decision within six months, beginning on 18 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1448 AH (August 31, 2026) and ending on 21 Ramadan 1448 AH. The decision is applicable once only, and no applications will be considered after the specified period expires. In the area of digital transformation, the Council approved the launch of the newly redesigned Sana’a University website network, covering the university, its faculties, centers, and facilities. The network comprises 60 Arabic-language websites and 60 English-language websites. The Council also approved the criteria and requirements for selecting academic figures to be honored monthly by Sana’a University, ensuring that the recognition is based on clear and established academic standards. The Council approved the adoption and implementation of the unified academic study plan at the Faculty of Education and Applied and Humanities Sciences in Khawlan, Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, and Faculty of Commerce and Economics. In the area of strategic planning, the Council approved the preparation of the Sana’a University Strategic Plan for 2027–2031 and recommended establishing a high-level supervisory committee to oversee its preparation and complete the requirements necessary for its development. The Council also discussed the draft Sana’a University Media Plan and decided to establish a committee to enrich and further develop the draft before presenting it to the Council at its next meeting for approval. As part of its efforts to support administrative staff, the Council approved scholarships for eligible university administrative employees who meet the specified requirements and criteria, consisting of three scholarships for Master’s programs and three additional scholarships for PhD programs. The Council also approved a proposal submitted by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Student Affairs to exempt blind students from studying Mathematical Statistics courses in theoretical faculties. In postgraduate affairs, the Council approved the results of 42 PhD and Master’s researchers submitted by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research from a number of faculties and centers. It also approved scientific publication incentives for four faculty researchers. The Council further approved hourly-based contracts for 122 faculty members and teaching assistants. The meeting also addressed a number of issues related to student affairs, academic affairs, graduate studies, and the university’s centers, with the Council adopting the appropriate decisions on the matters discussed. At the beginning of the session, the Council reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous meeting.
