As part of completing the academic and evaluative requirements for Human Medicine students, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana'a University conducted the final oral examinations in Community Medicine for fourth-year students (Batch 41), amidst an academic atmosphere characterized by discipline, organization, and rigorous scientific evaluation.
Oral examinations hold special significance in medical education as an effective assessment tool to measure students' understanding of foundational concepts and knowledge in public health and preventive medicine, as well as their ability to analyze scientifically and bridge theoretical knowledge with health and societal realities. They also contribute to evaluating critical thinking skills, academic discussion, and proper medical communication, thereby enhancing student readiness for advanced clinical and practical stages.
The examination process took place at the Department of Community Medicine in the Faculty, with the attendance and participation of the Head of the Department of Community Medicine, Prof. Adel Ahmed Al-Emad, Prof. Abdullah Muharram, and Dr. Nora Al-Awadhi from the Department of Community Medicine, along with a select group of faculty members and consultants from the department. Students were distributed across specialized examination panels that discussed and assessed their knowledge and skills in several scientific tracks, including primary health care, preventive medicine, epidemiological surveillance and epidemic control, biostatistics, and the management of health programs and services.
The academic committees ensured the application of objective and precise evaluation standards to guarantee fairness, transparency, and comprehensive coverage of the course syllabus and targeted learning outcomes, in addition to gauging students' ability to handle health issues with societal and preventive dimensions.
These examinations come within the framework of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences' commitment at Sana'a University to developing measurement and assessment mechanisms in medical education and implementing academic quality standards. This contributes to preparing physicians equipped with the scientific knowledge and professional skills necessary to understand societal health challenges and actively participate in promoting health, preventing disease, and serving the community.
