Researcher Ali Ahmed Salem Mohammed was awarded a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Planning with a grade of excellent and an average of (95%) for his thesis titled: The Reality of Management by Wandering Around among Public School Principals in Socotra Governorate and Its Relationship to Teacher Performance Quality, which was submitted to the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, Faculty of Education,– Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
• Prof. Ahmed Ali Ali Al-Ansi – Sana’a University – Internal Examiner and Chair.
• Assist. Prof. Nasser Mohammed Ahmed Al-Ka’adani – Sana’a University – Main Supervisor and Committee Member.
• Assoc. Prof. Ali Mohammed Mohammed Qardhah – Thamar University – External Examiner and Committee Member.
The study aimed to assess the extent to which public school principals in Socotra Governorate practice management by walking around, determine the level of teachers’ performance quality, and examine the nature of the relationship between management by walking around and teachers’ performance quality.
The study found that both the level of management by walking around practiced by school principals and the quality of teachers’ performance were high. It also identified a statistically significant positive correlation between the practice of management by walking around and teachers’ performance quality.
The researcher recommended strengthening the practice of management by walking around, increasing classroom visits and field-based follow-up, providing teachers with feedback and support, and training school principals in management-by-walking-around skills.
The thesis defense was attended by faculty members, researchers, students, and interested participants as well as the researcher's colleagues and family members.
